Can Using Oil Based Lubricant Cause Bacterial Infections?

Hello, Betty,

I've watched many of your videos with Carlin where you recommend using sweet almond massage oil as sexual lubricant, both on the vulva and inside of the vagina. I agree with you that most water-based lubes have way too many chemicals in them and that natural is best (as the almond oil is 100% natural), but I have read in so many places that you are never supposed to use oil or any oil-based lube in the vagina as it can cause bacterial infections. What is your take on this? Thanks.

Dear S,

Are We Allergic to Each Other?

Dear Betty,

This last weekend, I went to visit my husband (who's in the Navy; we're living apart while he's attending school). After going down on me, he got small bumps around the corners of his mouth. To me, they looked like razor burn, but he said this often happens the first time he goes down on me after a while apart (he also said it happen the very first time he ever went down on me). It seems that it only happens that first time or two, then after that it stops.

Had to Have Hymen Surgically Removed. Now Afraid of Sex

Dear Dr. Betty,

I'm sorry to bother you, but I have a question relating to sex, and having read through several pages of your website, I believe that you are the best person to ask. I also apologize in advance for the length of this message. This is a serious issue for me and I want to ensure that I explain it fully.

To cut down on the length a little, I'm going to summarize some
important points for you now:

Masturbate by Rubbing Head of Penis - No Strokes - Is That Normal?

Dear Betty,

I have masturbated for many years. I am however still a virgin. When I masturbate, I use only my thumb index and middle finger and rub the head of my penis like i was rolling a spit wad. I have always done it this way and when i try to stroke it, it feels foriegn. Most people talk about stroking their cock. Is what I am doing abnormal?

Dear C,

Did I Damage My Clitoris with Electric Toothbrush?

Hi,

First I would like to say that I am so happy I discovered your site! I have learned so much and am becoming far more comfortable with myself. As for my question...When I was about 13 I got the idea to use my electric toothbrush to masturbate. It was amazing and I have used it since (I'm 20). Outside of laying under the shower faucet this is the only way I have ever had an orgasm. I'm very concerned that masturbating with the electric toothbrush may have damaged my clitoris and made me less sensitive there.

Is My Clitoris Too Small to Orgasm?

Dear Dr. Betty,

I've been married for 10 years, my husband has tried oral and manual stimulation, but I've never been able to orgasm. I have either a very small, or non-existant clitoral gland, so is there any hope? If there is nothing there to stimulate - how can I orgasm. The only good stimulation I've received is through fairly intense water jet power. Any suggestions are welcome.

Dear D,

If I Use a Diaphram During My Period Will it Cut Down on the Mess of Period Sex?

Dear Dr. Betty,

I am in a wonderful long-distance relationship that I wouldn't trade for anything. He and I have been together for a few years now, but our visits are few and far between; the gaps between visits have fluctuated from three months to nearly a year.

That being said, he and I had intercourse for the first time during his last visit to the States, a few months ago. It was absolutely wonderful, and we are very excited to experience it again when I fly out to visit him.
