Art by Betty Dodson
"I feel there is no such thing as pornography. There is bad art but if it turns you on then it is good for you. It’s great to look at a picture and have a sexual response.
I grew up in Kansas in the center of middle-class morality – moved to New York in 1950 and studied at the National Academy, the Art Students League, and Columbia University. I painted the nude for 10 years denying sexual content – insisting upon intellectual ideal form. The age old body/mind split. In my own personal search for expressive sanity, I began to accept sexual feelings and gradually moved into Erotic Art.
It has been the most vital and challenging phases of my career. Breaking through the visual - sexual - communication barriers. In this (gallery), I explore different aspects of Human Sexuality."
