Should My Wife Give Birth Naturally or Have a C-Section?

Dear Dr Betty,

First of all I would like to thank you for a very valuable and helpful website!! I have a couple concerns regarding child birth. My wife is currently pregnant with our first and we need to decide to have natural birth or go the c-section route.

If we choose to have natural birth I'm worried that she will lose some sensitivity down there. I am also concerned that I will not be able to satisfy her as much afterward as I'm an average sized bloke with not much size to spare when it comes to making love

Rhythm Method, Getting Pregnant, & Sperm Life

Birth control details are as important to me in sex education as sex technique and connection. I was talking with Olivia the other day, discussing our plan to steer clear of pregnancy for her despite the fact that we have sex part of the month without condoms. First, Olivia is on birth control, however, we're aware that birth control is not perfect, so we still follow the pattern of her cycle, called popularly, the rhythm method. We have sex without condoms, as you saw in my last blog post with her, after her menstrual flow has stopped, which for her cycle, is the first seven days or so of the month. Then we switch to condoms until that time again next month.

Here is another link to a Ph.D. sexologist, Danielle Harel, who did her dissertation on sexualizing labor and birth.

I wanted to make her info available, but I want to comment on what I consider to be oversimplifications to the concept of increased arousal and increased stimulation in several of her statements. This is getting into the minutia of sexual technique and any time you move down into the details, I consider them advanced sex concepts. As Betty often says to me, "Goddess is very often in the details."

Hot Climates Produce More Baby Girls

It's more than just hot climates that produce more baby girls (so click on the title & read the entire article).  Evolution is still alive and well.  Researchers have found that in bad times, ie hot climate, war, famine etc., you're more likely to give birth to a baby girl because you want to insure at least 1 grandchild and a girl is optimal.  Conversely, in good times a boy is optimal because he may give you more grandchildren.  In the current global environment, I see alot of baby girls running around.

People who live in the tropics have more baby girls compared with those living in other parts of the world, work reveals. It may be down to the hotter weather or the longer days, says US researcher Dr Kristen Navara in the Royal Society journal Biology Letters.

She says this climate may change miscarriage rates and sperm quality. Or there may be some evolutionary advantage to having more girls than boys if you live by the equator. Experts already know that the birth rates of boys and girls vary across the globe. The results could indicate an adaptive strategy employed by humans.
