Better Orgasms. Better World.
I've heard about those rich bankers sitting around a big table figuring how to get more money and power. But I never got the whole picture. Thanks to John Kozy, I finally understand the power dynamics taking place in America. Figuring out our government's power structure is not unlike figuring out female sexuality and answering the question, "What do women want?" I'd say we want more humane consideration beyond what a handful of old white men with white hair are willing to give. They are greedy self-absorbed psychopaths that don't care about anything or anyone beyond their own dynasty. It's time to rebel.
Whose Country is it anyway?
by Prof. John Kozy
A political-economic oligarchy has taken over the United States of America. This oligarchy has institutionalized a body of law that protects businesses at the expense of not only the common people but the nation itself.
I just donated to Single Payer Action and so should you. If you don't understand what "Single Payer" means and how it relates to our health care system, watch this animated short.
Ralph Nadar nails it again when he says, "Obama's going along to get along." Our president is bending over while the BIG insurance and drug corporations stick it to him. They run the country not us pitiful tax paying voters who voted Obama in based on some meaningful change. I'm broken hearted to say, the new boss is the same as the old boss. We just got fooled again.
Personally, I think they way we rely on health insurance is crazy. By the time a person needs a doctor or ends up in the hospital could be avoided by outlawing fast food restaurants and packaged junk food. If people started drinking clean water instead of diet drinks they could avoid a lot of health problems right there. Until people learn how to feed themselves, including the medical professionals we will end up needing help. That's the least government should do for it's citizens.
We learn from history that we don't learn from history. As a follow up to the Frost/Nixon movie, this article "Democrats' Battered Wife Syndrome" is a must read. In the seventies I had a pen pal who was a retired CIA agent. He told me about the drug sales and arms dealing the Republicans were doing. He was getting ready to write a book exposing this when suddenly I never heard from him again. Yup, the Dems are battered wives who, like the photo above, are willing to kiss and make up in the hope that all will get better. NOT!
"In recent years, the Washington political dynamic has often resembled an abusive marriage, in which the bullying husband (the Republicans) slaps the wife and kids around, and the battered wife (the Democrats) makes excuses and hides the ugly bruises from outsiders to keep the family together." Please support Planned Parenthood's effort to overturn the Bush Rule limiting access to health care information by clicking this link and submitting your email comment.
Just before leaving office, the Bush administration released a rule that limits the rights of patients to receive complete and accurate reproductive health information and services. The rule allows doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel to simply withhold information about, for example, birth control and HIV testing and treatment. It also allows health care workers to deny any basic health care service based on their personal biases.
In order to overturn the Bush administration rule, President Obama had to write a new rule that must undergo a period of public review. Take the next step and urge everyone you know to submit their own comments: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/issues-action/birth-control/title-x-family-planning-funding/bushs-attack-womens-health-still-bad-medicine-23106.htm
Maybe we should send in some human rights attorneys with the troops to Afganistan to protect the women and girls who are paying the price of war.
"In Afghanistan, the sacrifice in the political game is women and children," female Afghan parliamentarian Fawzia Koofi said. Koofi says that is exactly what happened when the Afghan parliament recently passed a bill intended to give the minority Shiite community their own identity. But critics say the latest draft strips Shiite women of rights as simple as leaving the house without permission from a male relative and as extreme as allowing a man to have sexual intercourse with his wife even when she says, "No."
These critics wonder how what amounts to rape in marriage could be passed by parliament and signed into law by President Hamid Karzai.
I'm starting to really love Michelle Obama. It's so important to let any young girl that's in your life know that she is loved...she is strong...and she will "take the reins":
This is one of those days where I'm convinced that all things sex are a distraction from the destruction taking place by our government. We are completely addicted to war and building more military bases. STOP IT USA! Instead of destroying poppy fields (the main source of revenue in Afghanistan)how about we stop trying to control the world and take care of our own crumbling infra structure. I live on Madison Avenue in NYC and it's falling apart. It's become a pot holed country dirt road. Listen to what Tom Engelhardt says about the Af-Pak-War.
Let's start by stopping.
It's time, as a start, to stop calling our expanding war in Central and South Asia "the Afghan War" or "the Afghanistan War." If Obama's special representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke doesn't want to, why should we? Recently, in a BBC interview, he insisted that "the 'number one problem' in stabilizing Afghanistan was Taliban sanctuaries in western Pakistan, including tribal areas along the Afghan border and cities like Quetta" in the Pakistani province of Baluchistan.
She looks amazing! God, it's so refreshing to have an educated, confident woman as our First Lady. You so know that she's the strength behind Barack.
And when he looks at her I feel the same bit of jealousy I did when I saw the pics of Ellen and Portia on their wedding day (I was soooo jealous).
And her arms - defined, muscular, strong. I'm so sick of looking at boney, waif arms. I've been told that my arms are too "big" and my reply is always, "they serve a function. I can lift things and hold my body weight". That usually shuts them up. Leave Michelle's arms alone. I love them.
Planned Parenthood just confirmed news reports that provisions to expand access to affordable family planning will be stripped from the economic stimulus bill. Removing this provision is a betrayal of millions of low-income women, and it will place an even greater burden on state budgets that are already strained to the breaking point.
We need you to take action now by calling the White House and voicing your support for the Medicaid Family Planning State Option. Call the White House comment line at 202-456-1111 to speak out now and to let us know you called by clicking this link.
I remember sitting with Betty in a NARAL board meeting several months before the election. We were all bracing for a McCain win and fantasizing about an Obama sweep. We decided to draft recommendations for each administration knowing that if Obama took office it would mean a return to science, an end to the Global Gag Rule, and fair pay for women. Well here we are!
Today, the FDA approved the first embryonic stem cell study. A U.S. biotech company says it plans to start this summer the world's first study of a treatment based on human embryonic stem cells _ a long-awaited project aimed at spinal cord injury. The company gained federal permission this week to inject eight to 10 patients with cells derived from embryonic cells....AND President Barack Obama issued an order restoring U.S. funding for international family-planning groups involved with abortion. And to top it off the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act Passed the Senate.
I watched Obama's speech on my flatscreen with my lap top in front of me....twittering the whole time. I'm in love with twitter and it's ability to connect hundreds of thousands of people real time and disseminate information globally with a simple text message (FYI Obama has the largest twitter stream with 165,000 followers).
While on twitter, I got this link from Dave Winer. In the middle of Obama's speech, the White House got a new website. It's amazing.
Yes, he's hotter than George Bush but does he have the balls to "change" this country (change connotes sacrifice)? I was opposed to the whole Rick Warren thing until my boyfriend set me straight: he is serving up some crumbs to the GOP and the religious right. It's a throw away. The real positions are going to the intellectuals and the scientists.
I had this weird dream the other night where Obama was telling me how he was behind what Betty and me were doing with the site. Was it a fantasy? Yes. Was it the usual fantasy? No, he wasn't naked. I wasn't naked. What happens when you get to the point where you just want to be heard instead of f*cked?
