I’d met her once before. Kara had wavy black shoulder-length hair then. It was a costume party. She was dressed in purple-darkness gypsywear that concealed everything but a very pretty face. We spent some time together before parting for the evening. I remember while walking away from her the feeling of wanting to extend an invitation to continue our connection, but aware at the time of how inappropriate that would have been given the circumstances. I said to myself that there would be another time.
