Sexual Orientation Trumps Humanity?

Gay marriages don’t benefit society the same way hetero-marriages do – believes Rick “The Sanatorium” Santorum. He believes in the intrinsic “good” and sacredness of hetero-marriages. According to Ricky, LGBT pairings just don’t count, and apparently 52 percent of California voters agree.

So both The Sanatorium and the 52 percenters must have puked their guts out Tuesday when California’s 2008 Prop Hate was overturned by the Federal Appeals Court, deeming it unconstitutional.

In the opinion written by Judge Stephan Reinhardt, he maintained that the purpose of Prop Hate was

“...to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in California, and to officially reclassify their relationships and families as inferior to those of opposite-sex couples,"

Phyllis Siegel, 76, left, and Connie Kopelov, 84, both of New York, embrace after becoming the first same-sex couple to get married at the Manhattan City Clerk's office.

I looked at this picture all day yesterday imagining how it would feel to finally marry my life partner after years of discrimination. Beautiful.

Robert Crumb's Same Sex Marriage Art Rejected by The New Yorker

I love this cover - I can't believe The New Yorker rejected it.  They didn't even give a reason.  It's no surprise that Robert Crumb has refused to ever work with them again.

My City, Once the Gay Mecca of the World, is Back on Top

I cried at breakfast this morning, in a restaurant. I was glancing up at the TV when it happened. The waitress came over and asked me if everything was OK. I nodded yes, wiping my tears with my wadded up napkin.

“They’re tears of joy,” I choked out. She nodded as if she understood. I looked back up at the TV. CNN was showing people dancing and applauding because the Governor of New York just signed a bill allowing same sex marriages in my great state.

I’m not really sure why I cried so suddenly, except that I felt a sense of joy and relief. My city, once the gay mecca of the world, is back on top - in touch with the changing times.

Lady Gaga Drops Target Deal Because They Fund Anti-Gay Politicians

I love a celebrity with a big clit and Lady Gaga earned my respect this week.  She just ended a lucrative marketing deal with Target over gay rights.

The singer's decision was based on the company's failure to renounce its support for politicians that oppose gay rights.  It comes after her fans questioned the deal, announced last month, given Target's $150,000 corporate donation last year to MN Forward, a group that supported Minnesota governor hopeful Tom Emmer, who opposes same-sex marriage.

Our Sense of Family Comes From the Commitment We Make to Each Other

This young man is amazing.  This video clips shows 19-year-old University of Iowa engineering student Zach Wahls speaking out in support of his same-sex parents and other same-sex households during an Iowa House of Representatives public forum on House Joint Resolution 6 to amend the Iowa Constitution to Define Marriage as Between One Man, One Woman.

He is so poised - and notice he's not reading his speech. He's speaking from the heart. What a testiment to good parenting.

Support The Respect for Marriage Act

Can we please put marriage discrimination to bed and sign the petition to urge Congress to pass the Respect for Marriage Act silencing those rabid right wing nut cases once and for all? The reason they are successful is too many reasonable liberals are enjoying life and don't get involved in politics. I know because that's how I lived the better part of my life.

The Respect for Marriage Act is a critical bill would at long last repeal the discriminatory and immoral Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) - federal legislation that singles out legally married same-sex couples for inequitable treatment, denying those couples more than 1,100 federal protections and responsibilities that otherwise apply to married couples.

Please sign the online petition to urge Congress to pass the Respect for Marriage Act.

It's like the L Word vs. Queer as Folk with the ladies opting for relationships and the men opting for casual sex:

More female than male same-sex couples have chosen to marry since Swedish homosexuals were granted the legal right to marry on May 1st, 2009.  Thirty-seven female couples have tied the knot since May, compared to 11 male couples, according to figures from Statistics Sweden (SCB).

In addition, the number of children of same-sex couples registered as under Sweden's domestic partnership law has increased tenfold over the last decade.

Ellen & Portia are Officially Newlyweds

God, they look great.  I love, love, love Portia's dress.  I wasn't sure what Ellen would wear but her outfit is perfect...it's so her.

I think I'm actually jealous.  Wish I was married to Ellen. She's the ultimate girl crush.  *sigh*

Hopefully, as a culture, we'll be able to finally accept homosexuality and legalize gay marriage.  I think Ellen is the perfect person to lead the charge.
