Better Orgasms. Better World.
We received this thank you email from a happy D&R user...so proud:
"Thank you for helping me realize I could be a mother and a sexual being! I am more confident in my body now more then ever without makeup or photoshop!"
This week, I heard a bunch of controversy about the picture of two military moms breastfeeding their kids. It’s a beautiful picture really, so what’s all the fuss?
I've been radio silent for a while, mostly because I see and hear so many things that need addressing that I tend to get overwhelmed and not sure where to begin.
But last week Time magazine came out with a cover story that has had the blogosphere, the internet, the radio, and television news a buzz. And I can't let this one go unaddressed because I think this is more of a womens' issue than a mothering issue or a breastfeeding issue.
Love this women for having the courage to tackle one of the most taboo topics of all - sexuality and motherhood.
This is a photo from Madison Young's exhibition "Becoming Milf". If you don't know, Madison is a feminist porn star, author, and founder of femina potens. She just became a mother.
At the opening, she served up self-made breast-milk shakes and displayed a baby quilt made of burp cloths and porn star panties.
Congratulations, Madison.
This is an amazing video of Salma Hayek breastfeeding an African infant who's mother didn't have her own milk. So interesting to see a Hollywood celebrity who's breasts have been fetishized using her breasts for their purpose without shame.
Baby Food by Jill Lepore demonstrates that we are a nation filled with sexual ignorance and bigotry. This piece on breast feeding and the difficulty new mothers face nursing their children in public, pumping their breast milk at the office, and the failure of the Family & Medical Leave Act to support working women's role as mother is an eye opener. We produce the most porn and have sex on the brain 24/7, but expose one female nipple and Americans fall apart. Who are these people?
Mother told me I was too weak to suckle as a premature baby. She got a breast pump and fed me with an eye dropper until I grew stronger. She actually used a Wet Nurse for her first baby. By the time she had her last two; she was healthier and made sure her babies got their "titty dinners."
