If He Pulls Out, Can I Get Pregnant?

Hi Dr. Betty,

I'm a huge fan, and can't even describe how much better my sex life has been since I read your books! I have two questions. The first regards birth control. I'm not on the pill (and am not interested in hormonal birth control). My boyfriend and I have unprotected sex for a bit, then put on a condom before he ejaculates. He lasts a long time and he has a lot of control over his ejaculation so I'm not worried about him cumming inside me. Is this risky as far as pregnancy goes?

Secondly, I was put on Wellbutrin for depression about a week ago. For the first time in my life, I have had orgasms without direct clitoral stimulation. I'm afraid that my boyfriend will think this is "better" when it's not like a clitoral orgasm is any worse, and I'm also concerned about going off the drug when I am no longer depressed! Have you heard of women improving their sex lives with Wellbutrin?

Again, thanks for all the great advice.
R

Dear R,

The one possible problem with your current method of birth control is that even the few drops that appear when a man first gets excited called "glad come" has enough sperm to get you pregnant. It just takes one little guy that makes it to the egg. Consider getting a diaphragm my favorite kind of birth control. It saw me safely through the sexual revolution with an abundance of sexual partners. It's really very reliable and so easy to use.

For the most part, the questions I get about anti-depressants are how can I have an orgasm. This is the first time I've heard of your situation. Just remember that sex and orgasms never remain the same, maybe similar but never exactly the same. Sorry to hear you felt a need to go on an anti-depressant. Frankly, I'd rather do a good recreational drug like pot that a pharmaceutical drug. It's your orgasm and your boyfriend can think whatever he wants as long as you know what You want and how you like it.

Dr. Betty
