Better Orgasms. Better World.
Hi Betty!
It's so good to be able to discuss this with someone knowledgable and forthright. I am 55 yrs. old and have been postmenapausal for 6 yrs. My clitoral area is often tender to the touch even though I do use an oestrogen cream. This usually happens after enjoying some self pleasure. It is a problem because I want to have sex with my husband and also self pleasure more often but the discomfort is too distracting to achieve orgasm even though the desire is there. I have had the doctor check me for any infection and there is none. Right now I seem to only be able to enjoy sex 1-2 times a week because of this problem. I've been using astroglide as a lubricant.

Dear Linda,
The ONLY reason to use a water-based lube is when you are having partnersex and he's wearing a condom. General wisdom is that any kind of oil based lube will eventually break down the latex in the condom. However if I need a water-based lube for a condom wearing partner, I use Liquid Silk.
I have used my Sweet Almond oil on my silicone toys without any problem. It's not going to break them down or destroy your dildo. I have no idea where you got the information that water-based lubrication is necessary for all latex toys. Maybe it was from some manufacturer of the lube who wanted to sell more. Any cold-pressed unprocessed nut oil is better than a bottle full of chemicals. When I see too many words I can't pronounce I get suspicious. So enjoy my Sweet Almond oil and your clitty will thank you. It's available from my sex shop.
