Better Orgasms. Better World.
I am trying to tighten my PC for my pleasure and his pleasure, but come away FRUSTRATED!! I can stop the flow of urine, but wonder if I am really isolating the right muscles. It seems my anus is stronger than my vagina. When I lie on my back and insert a finger to do kegels it feels like my muscles tighten from the bottom to top instead of from side to side...Is that normal?! Plz help!!
Dear Amy,
If you can stop the flow of urine, that's the right muscle. But only stop the flow to locate the muscle, don't do it on a regular basis. Yes, many of us feel more sensation in the anus than the vagina. Using my vaginal Barbell as a resistance device would be helpful. If you don't get the Barbell, at least read my instructions on working your pelvic floor muscles. My approach to doing Kegels is to have a finger or vibrator stimulating your clitoris while you squeeze and release the muscle, then reward yourself with an orgasm.
This helps to establish the habit of using the same muscle while having intercourse. You are correct in perceiving the vaginal barrel tightening from the bottom up. The PC muscle is like a sling that supports the entire pelvic floor. It attaches in front to the pubic bone and goes around the anus. Instead of getting "frustrated" just enjoy the sensation as you stimulate your clitoris, rock your pelvis forward and back while you breath out loud as you squeeze and release the muscle. It feels good!
