Experience Pain Day After Anal Sex

Hi Betty,

I'm 45 and have just started having anal sex after all these years. My lover is very gentle and although the initial penetration is a little sore, with a little lubrication i soon enjoy myself. The problem is i get pain the next day from my anus deep into my pelvis. I do suffer from endometriosis and have had bowel adhesions due to this previously. Is it normal to have this pain, is it just because i havent done it enough, or could it be something to do with my endo problem.
As you can imagine im a little reluctant to ask my doctor and my lover gets upset that he is causing me pain. Any advise would be appreciated.

As a rule, pain indicates there is something wrong or a technique needs to be adjusted. The fact that you've had bowel adhesion's might be the problem but I am not a medical doctor. I'd advise you to move past your shyness (?) and discuss this with your health care provider. If your provider appears to be embarrassed by your question, time to get another one. The only thing I can say for sure from what you've said is that anal penetration requires a LOT of lubrication not a little. When I first embarked on anal sex as part of our repertoire, I was hounded by urinary tract irritations and infections (UTI's).
