Can Sex Relieve My Period Cramps?

My boyfriend recently told me that he read on the internet that having vaginal sex during period might help to relive my cramps. Also I was wondering if it was the orgasm that would help with the cramps or just the vaginal sex. We haven't tested it out yet and I'm just kind of curious.

Personally speaking, I found masturbating to orgasm relieved my cramps. Having intercourse seemed too unsightly but I think it would do the same thing, get the flow going which relieves cramping. Give it a try and let me know if it worked.

I suffer from heavy periods.  Although I have occasionally indulged, the last thing I want during a heavy period is sex, I prefer to make up for it afterwards.  However, I have an old hard plastic vibey that has long since stopped working (and to be honest, as it was hard plastic, I was never a great fan of anyway) and I find inserting this with lube during a tampax change helps the flow. This does nothing for me sexually at all, but in terms of helping to alleviate cramps it certainly helps me.

At least it does for me. I have found, also, that even just being really turned on can help "get the flow" going in a really positive direction. If you're lucky enough to have a someone whose willing to deal with the mess along with you, it's definitely worth it.
