Better Orgasms. Better World.
I'm a 37 year old female who is recovering from a complete (including the ovaries) hysterectomy. I've not had sex yet but I'm worried about a decrease in sexual desire and the inability to get wet when I am in the throes. What can I do now on my own to insure that I can have great partner sex? Should I take vitamins? Are there exercises? Help.
Dear A,
Although I have no idea why you had a radical hysterectomy, you'll want to get your health back. Consider a total overhaul on what you eat, how you exercise and do a lot of alternative healing processes. You are now a postmenopausal woman so I'm sure they recommended hormone replacement. Consider checking into the bio-identical hormones made from the soy bean plant. You can read my Hormone Replacement essay about this.
When you feel like having sex again, start with yourself.
Get the Magic Wand vibrator that is a must for post menopausal gals and a bottle of my Sliquid Organics Natural Lube . While you are having a love affair with yourself, be sure to avoid comparing what you feel now with what you felt then. Also Google your situation and gather as much info as possible. Some women say partnersex was better after surgery while others complained. It's a very individual thing.
Also explore your mind for new and hot sexual fantasies and always use additional lube for any kind of clitoral stimulation or vaginal penetration. Be sure to read my info under Betty's Vaginal Barbell and keep you pelvic floor muscle toned. Share what you discover in your recovery. Way too many women go through this surgery and the medical professionals do not prepare women for the aftermath. Read what one woman wrote about her lover having "prostate surgery.
It's not the same, but it demonstrates there's always a solution for people who want to remain sexual.

Sex after Hysterectomy
I had a total Hysterectomy at 32, and that was 10 yrs ago. If there was anyway to "revirginize" I sure felt that was it, but I'm told by several others they didn't notice a difference. For me the first few times were painful, but my Gyn found the cause and fixed that pretty quick. On the whole I was back in the saddle in about 3 months. Sex has been great ever since, There is something to be said for not having to worry about getting pregnant ever again.
I was more in tune to my G-spot, afterwards as well. Lubrication is an issue sometimes, but I always say, "theres no such thing as too much lube". I found the silicon based lubricants to be my favorite, and I could apply it before sex, without having to reapply. My libido has decreased some, but not much, I take HRT so that seems to help maintain equilibrium.
