Eyes Wide Open - Porn goes Mainstream America

Wow! Imagine my surprise and delight while in the airport book store I picked up the new issue of O (Oprah) and see this article regarding porn and women (and its a positive one!) written by Violet Blue.

She's quoting Theresa Flynt who reports that women are checking out porn online at least once each month and that women account for 56% of business at her company's video stores "and the female audience is increasing, women are buying more porn and creating more of it" (you go Carlin!)

it goes on to say that science is finally buying into the idea that women are at least as stimulated by porn as men and even remarks that porn is also a "fun and versatile toy" (OMG have we finally received the permission we've so long sought after??)

Ending the article with this comment:
"porn is one more pleasure to add to life's sexual buffet, one that can be enjoyed with a partner or alone"
(good lord, did she just imply that masturbation is ok and acceptable??)

So I'm reading the article and trying to hide it from the man sitting next to me, but halfway through, I'm thinking, what the hell, Oprah says it's ok, and no longer am I worried that this stranger will see me reading a pro article about porn. Refreshing, to say the least.

Violet Blue is just another GOOD activist for women and good sexuality. She has a podcast of her own I used to listen to, where she reads sexy stories written by her friends and other people she's come across along her own journey. Fortunately, there is a growing number of women like her.
The only reason I stopped listening, was cause she hadn't put out a podcast in like 3 months when I updated my computer, and I figured, ehh... there are some other good podcasts out there that are more regular (i.e. Guilty Pleasures).

Anyway, Violet is good though. And I'm all for showing off what your reading to others, especially if it's got to do with porn. I'm a bit of a voyeur though, so seeing others in any type of sexual related act, would be kind of hot from my point of view,even and especially if a woman next to me was reading porn and not trying to hide it. :cool:
