Yes, she's getting another award.

Betty is thrilled to be receiving the Masters & Johnson Lifetime Achievement award from STAR....in her own words:

This has been a demanding and exciting year. Some of my favorite moments was receiving awards from two academic organizations. The first was The Society for the Scientific Study of Sex (SSSS) last November in Houston Texas. I was presented with the Public Service Award in appreciation for: "Her Outstanding Achievements and Impact on Public Awareness, Advocacy and Professional Practice."

It seems like yesterday that we all gathered in the circle and answered the question, "how do you feel about your body and how do you feel about your orgasm".

Betty and I watched the rough cut of our bodysex documentary last night vodka pelligrinos in hand.  There's still some fine tuning to do but the images of real bodies and authentic orgasm blew us away.  We're so happy with the project and thank everyone for supporting our kickstarter campaign. 

The DVD will be ready by xmas.  We decided to release Day 1 and Day 2 of the workshop as VOD clips online ahead of the full documentary - we can't wait to share it with you. The VOD clips will be released end of November.

Shooting for our doc on Betty's bodysex workshops will run from September 12 - 16th.  Casting is just about done - Liandra Dahl will be in the circle, Sheila (the woman who started the groups with Betty), and 7 other amazing women. 

We decided to go for it and produce a 90 minute piece with extras.  Several tv networks want to "cover" the production *fingerscrossed* so our dream of taking Betty's work mass is right in front of us.  DVDs will be ready to ship by xmas.

We've selected the director for our documentary on Betty's Bodysex Group.  She's from LA, queer, and Betty fell in love the instant they met.  Katie is a wonderful addition to the project.  The documentary will be edited and available online and dvd by Christmas.

It's official - Betty is receiving the public service award from the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality.

This award is given to individuals for outstanding achievement or major impact in such areas as public awareness of sexual issues, public advocacy, professional practice by educators, therapists or health specialists, and legislation or public policy formation.

We'd like to thank all the people who kept submitting proposals, writing letters of support, and seeking to honor Betty's life's work - a big thank you to Leonore Tieffer, Joanna Whitcup, Eli Coleman, Derek Polonsky, Peggy Brick and anyone else that put up her name year after year.
