Nudity Shocks! NYC Exhibit With Naked Performers

Saltz: I Made Genital Contact at the Marina Abramovic Show
I’m not positive, but I’m pretty sure that a naked dangling penis
brushed lightly against me Tuesday night. This has never happened to me
before, at least not at a Museum of Modern Art opening. Two nude
figures, a man and a woman, face inward on either side of the narrow
main entrance to the museum’s newest exhibit, and unless you choose one
of the other entries to the show (provided for the underage,
uninterested, or queasy), you’re electing to run the gamut of flesh. So
I did. Just as I was thinking “Whew! Made it!” I felt something sort of
slide and bounce a bit against my thigh.

Here's another artist going for some shock value, maybe. This one was at the NYC Guggenheim on 3/2. I'm pretty sure I was not suppose to take picts. Opps!

Mr. Sehgal's piece was an interpretation of "The Kiss," and was not suppose to be performance art.  He wanted the viewer to interact with the art.

It created an awkward feeling, not at all intimate or sensual, as people gave wide birth to the performers writhing elegantly on the cold, concrete floor for several hours. They didn't even undress each other. That's probably what everyone was waiting for.

Interesting to watch the museum goers watch but NOT react to the "art" unfold in the center bottom floor of the Guggenheim void. Some sketched, but most just stared or peeked over the edge of the ramp as they wound up through the exhibit spaces.

I'll take an exhibit of classically rendered nudes any day over this!
