I am a single guy that has dated a fair amount and when it comes to
kissing, no one has ever come close to my x-girlfriend! Now, I am not
boasting here, but I have been told by some women that I
am a very good kisser and when we got together our kisses were
electric! Our kissing session would easily last 30 minutes or longer and
they would always start of with gentle soft lips and we would slowly
integrate our tounges that led to deep passionate kissses and playful endevors. We would
never rush this because we both loved it so much and the things that she
did with her tounge were amazing! Open mouth, closed, bottom lip kissing, top lip kissing, tounge sucking, tracing my lips, light biting and the interesting teeth carress. One of my moves that I think she liked was when I would, quite literally, taking her breath away.
For myself, It was never limited to just the lips. I would carress her
checks, forehead, even add a little eskimo kissing to see her smile.
Kissing the chin always led to my favorite part of the woman, her neck.
Tracing her neck down to her shoulders and working my way back up to the
ear then back to the lips was my favorite move and it would always get
her worked up. Then I would kiss her even deeper.
All the women I have dated are now being based on her kissing technique. She has become my standard for the intimate kiss and I wish there were more women like her that know how to use those skills.

I love kissing various men to see their kissing styles. I think it's interesting. I've kissed men within minutes of meeting them. Most men kiss well. There are a few vacuum tongue kissers, chew your face off kissers, drooling kissers, and guys that kiss too hard and ram their tongue down your throat so you can't breathe.

I kissed a guy I met at a concert within minutes of meeting him. It was supposed to be a goodbye kiss but he kept hanging around and continued to kiss me because he said I was a good kisser. :)

The only lips worth kissing are labia lips, French kissing them so that I can taste all that lovely cunt juice 

A slow start and the build up.  I hate it when a guy or gal jams their tongue down your throat within the first 3 seconds.  WTF!

I kissed this guy in college who was all tongue.  He didn't even move his lips.  I had to do all the work and it was like making out with a guy in a coma.

Soft lips....subtle kisses...a lick here and there...fingers sliding up the back of my neck into my hair...then the kisses get stronger and more intense as those fingers wind around my hair and pull tight so there's no release.  AAAHHH  

Flexibility in all things. I can think of a lot of little 'techniques' that I personally like using, or having used, like the two things you mentioned you don't like people going overboard on. (I agree, incidentally, mainly because doing either "too much" means you're focusing on those two things, which are pleasant, for sure, but to the detriment of everything else.)

As for my style... Sometimes I'm firm, sometimes I'm more soft/gentle. Sometimes I pull away a little to see if she chases me, or I'll move down to kiss the little dip on one side or the other of her throat, or the little hollow at the corner of the jaw, just below the ear. Eyes open, eyes closed, tongue doing some exploring or staying at home, a little suction, a little nibbling, a little stroking with my hands, or maybe a good hard squeeze.

I basically just try a little of everything. I guess you could call my style "experimental", since I basically test out her response, and go from there. Like I said at the start, flexibility in all things. If I only did what I liked, or only did the same thing over and over, she'd probably either not be as into it (like if I were kissing you, and overdid the lip sucking, for example) or get bored.

Oh, and I have nice big lips, too...
