I feel embrassed writing this, but its true. I've never really had the best hygiene for many reasons. Part of the reason is, I feel that if I was clean, it would mean I would have to be repsonible for myself, be an adult. By not being super clean (btw I mean this about myself not others), I don't have to own up to anything, take care of myself, etc... I want to have sex, but I just think about how unclean I am*, how not pretty my body is, and who wants that? I hope this doesn't sound dumb, but I feel silly for not knowing how to properly clean my cunt and anus. I know your not supposed to use fragrant soap. Plus, it feels scary cleaning myself, it just sucks being afraid of want you want, and being afraid of being a badass.
*To be clear, I'm not beyond dirty or anything truly horrible, but I don't feel genuinely clean. I also don't like the fear based feeling of having to have for example great breath or nice smell, but rather great breath because that's in and of itself good.

i really feel for you...
your body (the whole thing) is your temple! washing it and taking care of it is like worshiping your temple and it does give you more confidence, knowing that your temple is clean and well kept.
it seems like you know why you haven't been keeping up with your hygiene so i just want to give you some ideas of things that i know have worked for me and for gf's past. you are very correct about the fragrant soaps, just stay away from them. what you need to use to clean your most sensitive areas is a very, very mild and ph balanced 'soap' (i prefer cetaphil) but keep in mind that you don't need to wash your actual vagina with anything other than maybe warm water. when you are cleaning yourself, just focus on the external vulva and wipe the folds of your labia with a washcloth. after you wash your vulva, then wash your anus with the same type of soap- however, if you do use a washcloth, don't start washing your anus and then more to your vulva. same reason why wipe front to back.
as to being scared, maybe try to think to yourself, 'this is my private time, its just me here- nothing to be afraid of'... and, like i said, cleaning and worshiping your temple/your body will give you more confidence so you could always think of that too. hope that helps!
I would suggest going to see
I would suggest going to see your female family doctor and just be honest and ask for advice. She can examine you to see if you actually have a yeast infection or any problems and sort them out for you and give you advice on maintainance. If you have no kind of medical problem then a vagina cleans itself and a vulva can be washed best with warm water.
As to your body image, There are only 8 supermodels in the world and 3 and half billion women, so there's a wealth of diverse beauty ignored by the media that's trying to sell you something by making you feel inadiquate. I'm a guy and rather than admiring someone from affar and have them ignore me I find someone 10 times more attractive if I know they desire me.
Hope all that helps.
I appreciate the response.
