Being young - and in the grand scheme of things, unexperienced when it comes to people - I got to thinking this morning.

This is primarily for people who have spent time - be it a holiday, or actually living - in both the United States and Britain, and I was simply wondering, how different are men and women when it comes to dating and sex? I realise this must be stereotyping hugely, but in general, what have been your experiences with different cultured people? (It doesn't just have to be these two places, they just happened to be the two english-speaking places I was interested in)

Are Brits as prude as the stereotype goes? After all, we're not nearly as obsessed with Tea as the rest of the world might think!

(This is where I get a mind blank on the stereotypical american.....Lets just leave it there!)

As a born and bred Brit I can assure you that we are no more prudish than anyone else. Of course every nation has their prudes but we are not all the same. As for being stand offish, I suppose there is some truth in that but I have found that people in the south of the country are less friendly than those in the north which doesn't include Scotland because they don't like the English very much anyway and I'm English. But we are not all prudes. Take a look around the clubs in the cities on a Friday night and see how the guys and girls dress up, or rather down for a night out.

I am an American and have been fortunate to travel around the world - including several extended visits to the UK. In general, I find Brits a bit stand-offish until one gets to know them, then they are as friendly as people anywhere in the world. And Brits are definitely not prudes. I can't say I did much dating, but I had no problem meeting and getting to know British girls and having sex with a few of them.

My only real objection to the UK and the Continent is one cannot get an ICED tea. Those of us living in the Southern US are addicted to ice tea - probably every bit as much as the Brits are addicted to hot tea.

This is an interesting one.  The flash of nipple that seemingly caused a riot on US TV would have not got the same reaction in the UK, likewise going topless on many beaches causes little reaction these days (although not as common as mainland Europe).

I expect in reality we are about the same but probably both see each other differently and incorrectly.
