How To Go Braless and NOT Draw Attention from ArtCoition.com on Vimeo.

The purpose of this video is to allow women to feel more comfortable going braless in public.

I have been going braless for years due to the simple fact that I don't find bras to be the most comfortable piece of clothing. Unfortunately when I started growing breasts instead of seeing them as a natural part of my amazing and ever changing femaleness, I saw them as a target for hateful remarks, unwanted looks and attention that did not resonate in anyway with the person I was/am. Even though I started growing breasts over 15 years ago (I've since stopped ;) I still have some work to do before I am completely comfortable with my breasts. I am getting there, but I must say this was one of the harder videos to make.

On the bright side my misfortune is your gain as I have cultivated some creative ways to hold my lovelies in and cover them up without the use of that old wire and clasp contraption we call a bra.

On the not so bright side I read an article in Filament Magazine about the possible risks of breast cancer and the usually unwanted side effect of sagging related to wearing a bra. A few days after I read the Filament article I saw a video from Wild Orchid on Dodson and Ross regarding proper bra fitting. Dr. Dodson made a comment about bras being linked to breast cancer. While I definitely think this is an issue that needs to be looked at; I will not pretend to know if bras or anything else for that matter causes cancer. I simply want to give women more options when it comes to going bra-free.

It seems the most important aspect was not dealt with: Nipples showing when they get erect. I solved that one by wearing black or a dark color. I've gone without a bra since the sixties. What freedom!!!!

I love the scarf idea...my aunts have always sent silk scarves as gifts and I usually only wear them in the winter with turtle necks...now I have a summer option. thanks!!

I have a medium size bust so I've been going braless for years. I found using camisoles with lycra material a good base when going braless...the new tanks, halters and camisoles with built in bra support are also great...

this is kind of going in the other direction of comfort but I am a huge fan of corsets as well...if im feeling sexy, I usually don a corset...

Nipple Coverage

Hi Dr. Dodson,

Good point. Thank you for the input. Part one: The Under structures is more about hold than nipple coverage. A good no bra day for me involves reducing breast movement. Most of Part two: The Cover Ups do a good job of hiding my nipples. For example the thicker fabrics of the vest and jacket, or the loose draping of the scarves, the wrap and the large shirt  all hide my nipples. The patterns on the the loose tank and the halter dress can draw attention away from nipples.

Hi BellaFigura,

Yes big scarves are wonderful. So versatile they can be a dress, shirt, skirt, tie etc. Glad you liked the idea.

Corsets, that is an interesting fetish. Well you are much saucier and adventurous than I am in that department.  I am pretty anti-anything that reduces the amount of air coming into my lungs, so I would have to leave the corsets for my next life ;)

Nipples

Hi ElisaDay,

I agree with you. I am more concerned about reducing movement than hiding my nipples, but if we are talking about reducing what makes a woman feel like she might get unwanted attention for not wearing a bra, I can see Dr. Dodson's point. Plus I may have relatively small nipples compared to some women. When people look at my breasts I assume it is due to their size and movement rather than my nipples. Plus I tend to get turned on when I notice my nipples are erect, so I am probably so consumed in my own pleasure that I no longer care.

Why all the fuss about nipples?

I'm 19 and I've never worn a bra and neither do I see a reason to do so. I can understand wanting to restrict their movement, if you have bigger breasts (I'm blessed with smaller ones :-), but seriously... why all the fuss about hiding nipples? Now what, if they become erect? Quite frankly I don't give a damn, if somebody notices that or not. An erect nipple is neither an invitation for stupid remarks nor for anything else in that direction - that's like blaming a woman who was raped for wearing, I don't know, like, a skirt or whatever... It's just another subtle way in which society tries to controll women's bodies. F*ck that!
