My Fantasy? A Lingerie Runway Show with Actually Sexy, Non-Cloned Chicks as Models

So the Victoria’s Secret 2010 Fashion Show was this Tuesday and damn those girls are fine. Mostly I love their hair, their fabulous freaking hair, but the hugely padded, explosive-cleavage push-up bras didn’t hurt to look at, either.

I’ll be the first to admit that the Angels are fierce, but seriously, they are SO. SKINNY. Each and every one of them was this teeny tiny little stick figure walking down the runway. Teeny arms, teeny waists, teeny thighs. And I’m a skinny girl myself, I mean, I’m not hating on that. But it’s so unreal how clone-like they all are. I just find it boring, personally. None of them have curves! Even the models famous for having “curves” that the other girls claim to admire don’t have any curves! Sure, they might have a slightly rounder rump, or bigger cup-size, but it seems like the rule for being a Victoria’s Secret model is no waist-to-hip ratio allowed. And holy god, they all have to be starving, their stomachs were all flat as paper. Sticking out ribs, jutting hip bones, the whole bit.

During the show, they were airing Victoria’s Secret commercials. Apparently this year’s slogan is “What’s your fantasy?”

You want to know what my fantasy is? Well, besides an invite to the after-party (obviously), it would have to be a lingerie runway show with actually sexy, non-cloned chicks as the models! I’m not even saying it has to be a Victoria’s Secret show – their models are skinny, that’s how they market their brand, and that’s fine with me. But I don’t find it sexy! I don’t even find the lingerie sexy on these flat little twigs, and isn’t that the point? I want to see women who have CURVES, hips, tattoos, scars, piercings, pink hair, smudged eyeliner, Chuck Taylors instead of 6-inch fetish heels. I want to see rad, sexy feminists, not the same old skinny-ass clothes hangers!

But hey, that’s just me. (:

They don't have bras with 30 or 28 band size. It means that the girls got custom made bras or 0 lasting uplift and fit. And 28/30 is not really a very small band. I wear those sizes and I'm plump (but a bit on the short side).

I'll be making a post on bra-fitting shortly.

Amen.

Thank you for your comment, WildOrchid, about Victoria Secret's limited
bra-band sizing. I gave up shopping there a long time ago for that very
reason. In fact I've given up looking for appropriately fitting bras
"off the rack" anywhere in the US in my band size of 32.

I look forward to your post on bra-fitting. Women need to be educated on
how bras are supposed to fit so they can start demanding the right sizes
be available in the stores.

Larger Bra Sizes

In the UK we now have a company called Bravissimo who specialise in larger cup bra sizes.  They have brought pretty bras to the larger masses and they are doing great.
Says it all!  And having a 36F it's just right for me.

Done!
