Betty Dodson with Carlin Ross
Better Orgasms. Better World.
It was International Women's Day yesterday.
I couldn’t help but complain about the fact that women have been pushing for equal rights for the last few hundred years. We started calling them feminists in the 17th century…. so why do we still need International Women's Day?
Because we haven't tipped the balance of power. Even in Denmark, Scandinavia where I’m from we need it. It seems incredible but the fact is that women are still not paid the same money for the same work - equal work for equal pay - is crazy. We do the same job. Why can't we be paid the same salary?
I had a session with Betty Tuesday. So Great! Most of all because I got to see ”the real Betty”. Betty was definitely in her element.
Stepping into Betty’s hall felt like I’m stepping into the history of her life. One of my assignments here has been to copy edit Betty’s Memoir, so I feel like I know a big part of Betty’s history really well, pretty much by heart. Betty thinks it’s so funny that she can’t tell me anything without me coming up with a reference to the book. I almost went crazy over it at one point, but now My Romantic Love Wars is done and online.
I went to Carlin’s yesterday. I thought we were going to work/talk as usual, but suddenly Carlin told me that she just received the second cut of the bodysex workshop and we were going to watch it.
I thought, "am I really going to watch the filming of the bodysex group?" Yes I was and so we did.
Whe it comes to sexual imagery, I've always found that the big difference between watching something produced in the US compared to something produced in Denmark was the authenticity the Danish production had and the American production lacked. Well, I guess you just need an authentic cast and crew, and that is what the bodysex workshop had.
