Better Orgasms. Better World.
As a sex life consultant, I gather reasearch in more avenues than just how to have more powerful orgasms and better sex. Hypothyroidism makes a negative impact on your life as a whole and especially your sex life. From anxiety production that makes it harder to focus on our partners and enjoying them, loss of libido totally or intermittently, on to physical issues like cold hands and undesirable weight gain. For me, I walk this detailed path on wellness because I want a body and mind that are capable of the sex and living that I can do now well into my senior years. Also, when you take amazing care of yourself and take it seriously, your loved ones are not burdened unnecessarily by a family member or friend in failing health. That value, in my opinion, is not recognized by nearly enough people in American culture at this point in time.
Below are two articles from www.mercola.com on thyroid health.
This one is on bromide and bromide-included products and foods, a substance I very recently mentioned in my blog on my iodine supplementation, along with fluoride. This is the best source I've found for the truth on bromide and how it gets into our bodies. Again, bromide in your body interferes with your thyroid uptake of iodine, which is a building block of what it needs to produce the very necessary T3 and T4 hormones in your body. What I love about this article is how it makes it clear the role of not only bromine in bringing hypothyroidism to epidemic levels, it also discusses natural foods that have natural properties that are thyroid inhibitors. Peanuts is one of them, which is very common in our food supply. I love organic peanut butter like anyone else. Looks like im going to almond butter, or letting go of daily nut butter intake and go for other foods. Another way to look at it is how you can use natural thyroid inhibitors to bring calm to an overactive thyroid gland, i.e. hyperthyroidism. The role of unfermented soy products' negative effects on the thyroid are mentioned as well.
This article is on the role virgin coconut oil can play with regards to thyroid health and general wellness. Like the article above, also discusses ways to get iodine rich foods into your diet, like kelp and dulse sprinklings on salads, and how amazing the traditional
Japanese diet is via their iodine intake. Compare their hypothyroidism and cancer rates to ours. There is no comparison. I love looking to other cultures to see what they've figured out by circumstance or endevor that solves problems. (The U.S. has figured some really good stuff out too, just in different catgories... ;-) ) It has a great section in it on how doctors are, according to this information by another doctor, misusing a test for hypothyroidism. Here's that section now:
Ridha Arem, M.D., associate professor of medicine in the Division
of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Baylor College of Medicine, agrees.
He says that hypothyroidism may exist despite "normal range"
TSH levels. In his book The
Thyroid Solution he says:
Many people may be suffering from minute imbalances that have
not yet resulted in abnormal blood tests. If we included people
with low-grade hypothyroidism whose blood tests are normal, the
frequency of hypothyroidism would no doubt exceed 10 percent of
the population. What is of special concern, though, is that many
people whose test results are dismissed as normal could continue
to have symptoms of an under active thyroid. Their moods, emotions,
and overall well-being are affected by this imbalance, yet they
are not receiving the care they need to get to the root of their
problems. Even if the TSH level is in the lower segment of normal
range, a person may still be suffering from low-grade hypothyroidism.
As far as what I have experienced with my life and my diagnosed low grade hypothyroidism, back when I had it, my hands and feet were cold so often that lovers would always say, "Cold feet/hands, warm heart." Not anymore. I had heart arrythmias when I woke up in the morning. Every morning. It slowly corrected itself with my iodine uptake increase and getting to bed before midnight. Remember, your sex life has more to do with it than what I have to teach about physical sex. If your body isn't feeling good, if you have no sex drive, then you won't be interested in sex even if you're good at it.
