Better Orgasms. Better World.
Here are three links to sites that have info on this largely unknown topic in women's sexuality:
Here's an article on sensual birth options with many fine links to more sources.
And this is from a favorite site of mine that discusses sex/intercourse/making love during labor.
One thing I found erotic and compelling is the role that semen can play in making the cervix relax. It has the hormone relaxin in it. The purposes there, I'm going to assume, is to make it easier for sperm cells to make their way into the uterus by opening the cervix just enough to allow them to swim up inside. Laboring women are given pharmeceutical pills derived from, last I heard, pig semen, to create the same effect. As I understand, a woman swallowing human semen creates a similar effect via the bloodstream. I wonder what effect the decision to swallow or not to swallow semen would have on a woman not wanting to get pregnant, or who wants pregnancy via this cervical relaxing effect.
Here's what I said on my facebook posting about clitoral orgasms and birth orgasms and the difference between the two:
"It's important to note there is a difference between birthing that is 'orgasmic' it feels good, or corresponds with a 'birth orgasm,' and the
pleasure created from clitoral stimulation by the mother or the
mother's partner that makes her have a clitoral orgasm. Birthing 'orgasms' are happen more randomly and without clitoral or direct
sexual stimulation."
"Having orgasms via sexual stimulation
during labor, I read, can be a tremendous help for making the entire
process easier and orgasm releases hormones which are painkillers."
"That
and I find it white-hot and powerfully intimate. I use pregnancy,
labor, and conception fantasy with a few of my lovers while we play,
here and there. It can be very, very hot and bonding. Her and me in the
birthing pool, her big sexy belly and breasts, or while conceiving: lots of
sperm ejaculated inside, day after day, and orgasms."
The first issue on women's minds for this would be you can't do this at a hospital. It's a home birth thing with a midwife/doula and I'm not sure all midwives would be comfortable with sexuality happening. Use the links and links to links above to plug into one who does, should you be interested!
As is mentioned in the information, sexual arousal and continued stimulation of the clitoris widens and engorges the vagina significantly in addition to the lubrication, which makes the baby's emergence into the outside world easier and erotic/intimate pleasure makes cervical dialation easier. Betty told me a story once on how a long time friend of hers used a Hitachi Magic Wand on her clitoris throughout her labor when her baby was born. It was a blending of erotic pleasure and pain and as my lover Olivia said to me, "I love clitoral and deep spot orgasms and lengthy sex durning the most painful parts of my period. It relieves the pain for a good twelve hours." That, and the intimacy between us when I as her partner embrace her for sex at all times in her cycle. Wanting to be a part of that personal time, instead of the traditional shunning that happens, is a major statement of character and heart to her.
