Disney Hated Johnny Depp's "Gay" Jack Sparrow

Johnny Depp shares in his latest interview with Vanity Fair that Disney is homophobic:

Depp said Disney "couldn't stand" his Sparrow and one person there even asked if Sparrow was gay. Depp told the Disney executive "all my characters are gay," and he said that "really made her nervous."

I'm not really shocked - every story line features a heterosexual couple.  And how long did it take for them to feature a non-white character?  It's like "black" Barbie - all the characters have the same doe-eyed, slim nose, rosy lipped faces but with different skin tones.

The more I hear about Depp, the more I like him. The converse is true for Disney.

some great comments from facebook:

"but they don't mind the money he makes charming us. We love the metrosexual Jack. Nearly gay, flirts with all shamelessly, adored by his fans, ready to be slapped or stabbed at any moment by his friends for his constant self-serving though endlessly loyal paradox. A sexual dynamo no doubt of creative energy: we all love some Jack Sparrow."

"I love Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Jack Harkness (from Torchwood). They should hook up!"

"Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow is one of the great characterisations of modern cinema. Johnny Depp and the other great actor from What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Leo DeCaprio, wonderful, wonderful. They are so good at what they do, that Disney d...oesn't deserve them. And I wonder what is wrong if the character he portrays is gay? Tsk, tsk. It is known that homophobics are more likely to be turned on by gay pornography than others, signifying that they themselves are probably closet homosexuals, but don't have the guts to come out. And what did they make of Edward Scissorhands? lol"
