Barbie Has Cankles?

It's shaping up to be the Week of Misogyny.  First, we had Karl Lagerfeld blame "fat mummies siting on the couch eating crisps" for Brigitte Magazine's decision to ban models from their fashion magazine.  Then we had Ralph Lauren's nauseating photoshopped campaign of a model (yes a model) reduced to half her real size.  Think concentration camp body with big breasts and a full face.  RL apologized only to release a second photoshopped image of what I'm calling "Auschwitz chic".

And now we have Christian Louboutin attacking Barbie for having cankles.  Mr. Louboutin (and I will admit I lust for his shoes) is re-designing a fashion Barbie set to come out next year, and according to Women's Wear Daily, found her ankles a bit too fat for his taste, so he re-shaped the doll's feet.

Even Barbie - a fantasy doll who if she were a real woman would stand 7 ft tall with a 28 inch waist and size 5 foot - isn't safe from the fashion industry's He Man Woman Haters Club.  It's become so blatant and that may be a good thing.  Maybe we need a slap across the face to realize that our bodies are under attack and think about why this is the case.  Why must we physically deny our womanhood?  Why can't we have curves?  Why can't we have feet large enough to support our body weight?
