Better Orgasms. Better World.
No, I'm not a pedophile. But there seem to be more and more attractive, married chick teachers who are fooling around with their underage, male students. First, there was Mary Kay LeTourneau but the fact that she married her teen dick and had 2 of his children kind of throws a wrench in the pedophile argument.
It does seem like she just fell in love with the wrong boy....is it any different than Celine Dion and her now-husband manager? They started seeing each other right before her sixteenth birthday. And there are plenty of underage supermodels dating 50-something rockers so we're all aware of the double standard.
I think it would be hard to find a father who would be provoked enough to grab their gun and head out after the woman who slept with their 14 year old son. It conjures all sorts of fantasy play and results in a pat on the back or a high-five. I guess Van Halen's "Hot for Teachers" still resonates with 40-somethings. And it really pisses me off. Unless a boy is raped by a man, sex with a boy isn't seen as an aggressive act. Boys...men are always the sexual predators. Text messages, gifts, myspace stalking, cheap motels, requests to kill the husband all fall by the wayside. Your hot blond teacher talks you into bed = total stud. You got sex when you weren't even looking for it. Someone give this boy a metal. Well done, son!
For girls, it's the complete opposite. You can never want sex. You never would sleep with your teacher because it was fun and just fell in your lap. No, the law needs to protect you from yourself. My own family used the same sort of paternalistic argument when they announced that my 20-something unmarried cousin was pregnant. The annoucement was made and then they felt compelled to justify her behavior by saying that she really didn't want to have sex but this phantom guy who knocked her up had been after her to have sex and eventually she just gave in....once. I was like, "why can't she just be pregnant because she wanted to have an orgasm...she wanted to fuck." It's this attitude that socializes women to play the passive role and men play the aggressive role in the bedroom.
And this all leads me to why these attractive intelligent women find themselves posting sexy videos on their myspace pages for their teen dick. Take the case of Pamela Rogers. She's absolutely beautiful, educated, and doesn't need to being cruising for teen dick. Look at her. But, just like Mary Kay, she found herself head-over-heels for a 13 year old boy. She was convicted of statutory rape and ordered not to contact the boy every again. But, of course, she was busted for violating the court order against contacting the boy by texting him a sexy video clip.
She's so sexy. I couldn't imagine why she'd find herself giving up her career and 18 months of her life in prison for teen dick. She's not the Dateline To-Catch-A-Pedophile type ie unemployed, fat, bald with no opportunity to have sex with anyone. There I think it's more about low hanging fruit and talking a young girl into having sex with you because her 30 something sister would size you up as an loser in one moment. All you need is a few wine coolers and you're in.
So why do these women fall for teen dick? I had to know. So I started doing some research and found a new study on women and statutory rape. Turns out that women go for teen dick in order to have power in the relationship....and in the bedroom. They want to be the aggressor. And they can't be the aggressor in a real relationship with a man so they seek out the boy they can dominate with ease. They can introduce him to sex play, tell him how to please them, manipulate them emotionally, and just be the domme in general.
Now what does that say about our culture and gender roles? Maybe having such defined roles (boy on top and girl on bottom) can lead to deviant behavior. Adhering to such inflexible gender roles just doesn't afford woman an outlet for dominant behavior. We're can't be dominant in the workplace. Look what happened to Carla Fiorina and Patricia Dunne at Hewlett Packard. They chose a direction for the company per their title and got ousted by the board of directors and Patricia Dunne is facing criminal charges.
We can't be dominant in our family lives....or our relationships because our men are supposed to "in charge". And even when we do challenge our partner how is our behavior perceived? We're "nagging" them too much or "demanding" too many things to be done around the house. I was having an argument with my man on the way home from dinner with friends. It was gettiing heated when he yelled, "just shut your fucking mouth!" And I did...instantly because I didn't make the move. I could have yelled, "shut your fucking mouth!" to end the argument but I didn't. I just kept arguing the facts like a lawyer. I didn't play the intimidation card because I didn't feel like the dominant player.
Our culture is so twisted. Girls aren't sugar and spice and everything nice. We can be aggressive, abusive, and evil too. Every so often you have to let the cat win. We want to be able to slide into some latex, grab our riding crop, and give the order, "on your knees, slave". We want to Unleash Our Inner Mistress!
Ok, we're on to something with this I-need-teen-dick-to-feel-in-control argument. 2 more women were arrested for sleeping with their 15 year old boy students. And, again, their fucking hot. So you tell me!
Christine Johanson was a teachers assistant from Washington and Candie McCandless was a teacher and wife of the principal. I mean look at these women...they're young and attractive. They're not poaching the teen dick because they're not desperate for it. But they are choosing to be in control. I reallly think this says something about gender roles in our culture.
When you watch Dateline's To Catch a Pedophile it's always fat, grose men preying upon young girls because all they have to do is pick up some wine coolers and show up to get laid ie low hanging fruit. But these women have social standing...they're young, attractive, employed...so it's not about low hanging fruit.
it's almost like women feel the same sense of powerlessness as unattractive, unintelligent men who've been rejected by society. The catalyst is different but the result is the same.
Ok, I found this story on the wires and wanted to be even-handed. I should include "desperately seeking teen pussy". Today, a Harlem teacher resigned after allegations of sexual assault surfaced. This teacher is the typical dyke coach. I tried to copy the pic but couldn't. Anyway, this "coach" made a play for her 16 year old female student. So lesbians and bisexuals can be predators too. I wonder whether the same desire for control and power in their relationship is the motivator. You could argue that it clearly is not with respect to a lesbian relationship although I do know that there's a higher incidence of domestic violence in lesbian relationships. Guess there's no fear of being hit back but is that "power"?
I'm going to do some more research and see if I can find any information or data showing whether or not female molesters are more prevalent now or whether it's just become newsworthy. So sad.
Great essay
There has been far too little research on this. My first and only real penetration was with a black priest. I could not say I didn't like it with a straight face. In fact, that was my opening experience to the wonder of sex
Rape is Rape
According to the author, when a man rapes a teen it's because they are desperate for sex, but when a woman rapes a teen it's because they are psychologicaly repressed. That's both sexist and so ignorant it staggers the imagination.
Thank you for this article
Its good that you wrote about this. Im not a pedophile either, but lately I've been obsessed with Justin Bieber. The thing is that Im a 30 year old female and engaged to a man older than me. This has never happened to me before, but I can't get Justin out of my head. I listen to his music everyday, buy everything he sells, and go to all his concerts in my area. I think that I've fallen in love with him. My fiancee finds all of this quite amusing and gets jealous occasionally. I would love to get an explanation about why this is happening to me. And on twitter I found many other adult women this is happening to also, so its not just me.
