This video is amazing.  Muslims, Jews and Christians living peacefully in Palestine back in 1896.

Muslim arabs made up 85% of the population of Palestine.  Hardly an "invented" group of people:

Arab & Jewish Women's Fair Trade Coop

Thu, 01/12/2012 - 15:47

Carlin...I so look forward to your facinating posts.  You bring such great content to this website.
Now in addition to stretching my hymen, you, Betty and this community are stretching my mind amd my heart.    yikes...
Your video reminded me of Dr. Bronner's dedication to using blended organic olive oil from both Palestinian and Israeli olive trees.  There is a Fair Trade Coop that was started by Arab and Jewish women who say it takes more than talk to bring about peace in the region.
So I just want to pass this on.  This coop effort starts about 3 min into the video.

Carlin..thank you again for warming my heart this morning.  It's about 7:30am here on the West Coast and I've had such a lift watching your video and these other two as well.

Stick with sex, please...

Carlin:  Please stick with thing you know best - female sexuality.  You
diverge from your mission here at Dodson and Ross in such a way that
might truly stain your wonderful work on women, female masturbation and
sex.  While you may be well versed in these areas, the Israeli -
Palestinian conflict has nothing to do with any of them.  By the way,
the issue is not about Palestinians being an "invented" people - people
of many faiths have lived in the region once controlled by the
Philistine's for centuries.  There has never, however, been a nation
state known as Palestine.

As it's her blog and her website, I think she can write whatever the hell she wants.

"Stain your wonderful work on women, female masturbation and sex".

Wonderful scare tactics you've got going on there. Please!

As for your comment about Palestine, it doesn't matter if there was never an "official state" called Palestine. It's PEOPLE that matter, not states.

I say humanitarianism and sexual education goes hand in hand. But if you're not happy you can always make your own website.

mrrosebud I disagree,

real people aren't single topic, we're wholistic and getting to know someone gives you an intuituive feeling for who they are and that has a direct relationship on the credibility of their advice in the field of human sexual relations, which is an art not a science. As an extreme example, would you really consider advice on sexual relationships from someone who hunts wild tigers every weakend? :)

As to inventing Palestinians. To say Newt is a king size dickhead is a gross insult to male genitalia and I'm saying that in the language of success not the language of the ghetto  :) Lol

There are lots of small scale peace initiatives around, I hope they reach a critical mass and tip the region into peace and pluralist democracy.

Jake,

"The field of human sexual relations, which is an art not a science." ??

Well than the field of the human mind is an art too, not a science. Byebye, psychology.

Ever heard of sexology? It may not be properly acknowledged, but it is a science and it covers everything from human sexual relations to clinical sexology to sexual identity, queer theory, gender, ethics, sexual epidemology and much more.

Call the field of human relations "art" and it will never get the credit it deserves. Than it will be a cultural indulgence that may be somewhat esteemed (yeah, right), but not so that it's properly researched and supported. That's where we want to get to.

Elin:  Wow... super hostile... seems like you've got some big issues here.  Not sure what they are, but, I can certainly make a good guess...
Jake E:  I also hope for peace in the middle east and around the world.
As I said, I hope Carlin will use her blog to continue the good she has created for sexuality for both women and men.  I also hope religion, politics and international affairs don't become a part of this sexuality forum.

Thank You Jake

Heart warming.

Mr. Rosebud,

Yes, I'm hostile. Because I find your post to be three times arrogant. My main issue is that you in clear words express to Carlin, and in a very patronizing manner at that, that her political blogging "might truly stain your wonderful work on women..."

Let's for argument's sake pretend that Miss Ross is an intelligent person (who went to law school, even). However, you don't bother to elaborate on the "how's" and "why's" of your quite serious assertion. Thus, your comment stands out as an attempt to intimidate her.

But let's say you're truly sincere in your post and engage the fact that naturally, people who are opposed to her views might take this as means to discredit her. As an intelligent person, I'm sure she has concidered that. Why would you assume otherwise?

And finally. You say it's a sexuality forum, the underlying meaning being that it's a sexuality forum ONLY. This is only correct if that's what Miss Ross and Dr. Dodson wants it to be, as it is theirs. You don't have privilege to define it's nature or purpouse, but take the liberty of doing so anyway.

My pleasure :) wouldn't it be

My pleasure :) wouldn't it be nice if they actually ran the place.

mrrosebud all those things are a part of the site and Betty and Carlin have a right to express themselves honestly. I much prefer that to a customer service one topic personality where what people really think is hidden. That's truly awful.  You wouldn't know what was colouring sexual advice. imagine a fundamentalist Christian sex advice website where the religious views were completely hidden. It's creepy awful and not very honest.  And religious views are totally pertinant to sexuality so are politics and abortion etc etc... you just can't cover this topic anywhere near intelligently without them. In fact the result would be of little or no interest to anyone, certainly not to me because what you have left is 15 tips to make your girl cum. and that's all we usually get. That article needs a feminist viewpoint to make it useful and feminism effects politics and religion and art and I personally LOVE how wholistic life is, that's why conversation is interesting and someone who just talks about one topic usually isn't.

Re: "Palestine"

I find I must disagree with mrrosebud. I think that Betty and Carlin are concerned with both sex as well as other matters (that often impinge on sexual matters, even sometimes indirectly). Since sex is part of our total lives, I think it is right to touch on those other areas that may effect our freedom to enjoy our sexuality!
When I watched this video, I was reminded of when America (sometime around the late 1950's) was still very much a country that respected our secular underpinnings, such as the separation of church and state.
Until the Reagan administration, politicians typically avoided refering to their personal religious beliefs (except when Kennedy was grilled about his Catholicism). In those days, if a politician made references to his church affiliation (say, Baptist, for example), the Methodists, the Pentecostals, the Catholics, the Anglicans, all would have been very suspisious of that. In otherwords, for the most part, the different forms of Christianity tended to be mistrustful of other Christians refering to themselves as such. They mistrusted each other, and therefore, it was rarely brought up publically. Religious affiliation was a private issue in those days. Then, evangelical fundamentalism arose and galvinized all these groups around the one word "Christian." Now days, a politician who wants to win an election must refer to him, or herself, as a Christian, first and foremost! It's all been turned on it's head! We are not the better for it,either!!
Watching this video that Carlin posted about "Palestine" made me realize that this region of the Middle East has also undergone a very similar sort of transformation as we here in America have! Prior to that (I'm talking about the Middle East), Jews, Christians, and Muslims all tended to live and work together (not always peacefully), but now, they have been fragmented into distinct groups of "Jew", "Christian", "Islamic." The focus has shifted. Just as it has here!
Thanks, Carlin, for the reminder of the way things used to be. I like your "political" comments! They are completely relevent to the mission of D&R! Sex has political aspects. If we read any of what the Right Wing in this country is saying openly, sexual freedom will be one of the first things the theocrats among us will be turning to their attentions to! There is no way to neatly separate sex from politics. Would that it could; but, we do not have that luxury.
