Hi Dr. Betty,

First of all, I've been an ardent reader of your site for a few years now and am so grateful to you and Carlin for all of the education you're putting into the world. I've been recommending your site to my girlfriends to help spread the word - some of them have been living in the dark ages but this site is showing them the light, just like it did for me. I mean, I didn't know I'd been having orgasms for years until you clued me in that it wasn't all rainbows and fireworks. Thank you!

I own both Sex for One and Orgasms for Two (love them!) and have checked your website to see if anyone has ever talked about or written in about this particular question that I have and as far as I can tell no one has!

Basically, at least two out of three times that I drink alcohol, I immediately start to feel "turned on." Like the wine automatically goes to my genitals and gets things going within about a minute. It's not so much an issue as a curiosity. Also, it can really be uncomfortable when I'm out for a nice dinner or something and can't do a thing about it! It gets to the point where it is hard to sit still, but it eventually passes. My friends claim this never happens to them, and a doctor I asked was also clueless. The only person who can relate is my twin sister. This happens to her, too so I know it's not just in my head. We're both healthy, in our late twenties, and this has been going on consistently since we started drinking about ten years ago.

Any idea on what is going on? Maybe this is common after all? If anyone has ever heard of this, I figure it would be you!

Nope, I've heard about wine enhancing relaxation which can affect sex positively but to actually have wine make you feel instantly aroused is a new one. Perhaps you could limit wine drinking unless you are close to a place where you can have sex with a partner. However in a restaurant when that happens, one of those lipstick sized vibrators like the Tango would come in handy. You could dash off the Ladies room and get off or sit on it and have a discreet orgasm right at the table. This is another very high class problem and I'm just a bit jealous.
