Will Almond Oil Eliminate UTIs?

For about the past 2 years, I've suffered from very frequent urinary tract infections. I take a cranberry supplement everyday, but sometimes that doesn't quite cut it. I've noticed that I'm more likely to get them after sex (we use a water-based lube).

I bought a bottle of almond oil today to replace the water-based lube we usually use (I tried it out on him; it was definitely an upgrade from Astroglide). My question is: Will the almond oil eliminate/be less likely to give me UTIs?

Thanks for your time :)

Dear K,

Unfortunately nearly all water based lubes are full of chemicals and that might be causing your problem. In case you don't know, you can never go from the anus to the vagina with a finger, toy or penis. That's a UTI for sure. Any natural organic oil will be welcomed by our sex organs especially for manual sex and masturbation. However, if you are using condoms, you will need to use a water based lube.

Oil will gradually break down latex. Astroglide is at the bottom of my list for lubes. If you must use water based I suggest Sliquid Organics made from all natural ingredients with added certified organic botanical extracts that's available from our website.

I seriously doubt it's the lube. It's bacteria - mainly e-coli, that causes these infections.
Always pee after intercourse, that will hopefully rinse out the bacteria.
I just had a big bladder infection because I used a dildo anally and than vaginally. I though it would be ok, since I had a condom on and than switched condom when I was to use it in my vagina again. However, I had rubbed the dilto up and down the whole general area. That sperad the bacteria to the opening of my vagina, where it found its way in.
I also don't know if it's smart to take a supplement every day. I have a feeling that would just make you immune to the natural penicillin in the cranberry.

Ask your doctor and try D-Mannose as a supliment. I have had really great results preventing UTI's with D-Mannose after a lifetime of regularly occuring bladder infections.

Hi there, I used to get UTIs very often, even though I was drinking a lot of water and taking a cranberry supplement, until I finally all but eliminated alcohol and sugar from my diet and starting taking a good probiotic every day. I do believe that drinking a lot of water and taking a cranberry supplement are good things to do, and definitely do pee after sex, but I'm telling you...the change in diet and daily probiotic has made the most difference, as I haven't gotten a UTI since I made those particular changes. When we overload our bodies with alcohol and sugar, it can feed harmful bacteria, and if you have ever taken antibiotics, your body is low on beneficial bacteria. Coconut oil is actually helpful in eliminating pathogenic and other bad bacteria, therefore preventing UTIs. But keep it refrigerated when not in use. Hope this helps.
