Racism Within the Military

I thought that after 8 years of Bush, people would become better informed. His selection by the Supreme Court was what motivated me to better understand politics and governance. I kept saying the terrorists are in the White House thinking it was mainly Republicans.

But now I see it's the entire Congress, our new president and the system we so blindly call "democracy." Thank you Mike Prysner for speaking out. We need nothing less than a revolution! Count me in!

I Understand Your Point

I have to add that the government we have now compared to what we did had came into a "Ghetto America". There was no money no education and no insurance. I will also add I never fought for someone to be in office because I was not old enough to vote until Obama and yes I wanted the Hilary. But it was not her year I guess.

I was moved by Obama, by his motivation, and the fact that I did not want Palin any where near representing my county.

I to agree that the war "s" we are in is unnecessary. We need to take care of Homeland First not another country.

What saddens me the most is when the Vets come home they are tossed under the bus once again. The women and men that have risked their lives for this country are not given any type of mental treatment unless they blow up something or someone. They are sent home to a family they have not seen in a year or more and told to reform back to what they were over night. It's sick even the prison system gives inmates a form of How to Fit Back in society class before being released. They are debriefed which is a JOKE. Questions "Do you want to harm yourself? Do you want to harm others?. Most of the Doctors are from a country that does not believe in mental health. They give our HEROS a pill to fix all their problems. Fuck that.

I wish I could say it will get better but I now don't believe it will. People in America are still to Closed Minded and won't allow change in anyway.

Watch the movie Stop Loss. It's not the best movie but these things truly happen. The media and the soldiers do not bring it up. If it's released they government can take away to much to fight back.

I have lost so much faith in our country, it just seems like everyone has a personal agenda and none of them include the American people.

I agree with Prysner. I just

I agree with Prysner. I just wish he wasn't talking in front of a television. He's a soldier. Why sit comfortably in front of someone making a speech when you can use your skills to organize and plan your revolution?

Because we, as Americans, are spoiled.

Personally I'm sick to death of the "Michael Moore" approach to resolving America's issues: Make an enemy out of the corporations and the government. Make an enemy out of America. How do we fight it? Don't know. But, we sure can complain.

While this country has our problems, we are the most fortunate people on earth. For Americans, our greatest form of patriotism is dissension from our government (I think I'm paraphrasing Jefferson). It's not only natural for us to question our government, but it's also our right! Do you think that if Mike was living in Afghanistan or Iraq he would still be alive if he was saying the same things about his country? No. Do you think Carlin and Betty would still be alive if they lived in the country we were fighting against?

No. Americans have more rights than we're led to believe. But, understand this. We never had to fight for anything and our government has never given us a reason to fight against it. Think about it. For all the complaining we can do right now, we're given access to so many things - even the bums of NYC rest better than most people in other countries (Trust me, I used to help them). We're like pigs being fattened up. And the issues we do complain about - Health care, jobs, the war - are issues that (at least for me) we have been led to believe are far too big for us to understand. That's why we elected Joe Schmo. And while some people do live impoverished lives, plenty of those people make poor financial choices, invest money in expensive cars or unnecessary items, and don't educate themselves enough t

There hasn't been one figure in our current American landscape who was willing to take the bullet, willing to become the X factor, the anarchist, for the sake of waking up the people. Instead, we stupidly organize a peaceful protest (oxymoron), and are appropriately moved into less distracting spots like cattle by the police. Hell, it's our constitution to bear arms! Even the people who were protesting against the elections in Iran weren't even allowed weapons!

What it essentially comes down to is that if we want to take the country back, we can't do it peacefully. Remember the foundation of America wasn't built on what we see today. The foundation of America was composed of rebellious men who fought against the British every step of the way. Democracy wasn't about the government; it was about the people. So, if we're going to complain about democracy, and if we're going to complain that no one's doing anything, we have to realize that WE are the ones to blame. And if WE want to see democracy again, we need to do alot more than this. I have faith in my country. I'm proud to be an American. But, I'm not picking up a gun anytime soon because of our problems. Are you? Or better yet. Instead of weapons, why not be passive aggressive? Avoid shopping at the mega grocery store. Take your money out of the bank. Refuse to pay for anything that is taxed until the gov't can tell us why we should even give them money when they've squandered most of it away on the very issues we complain about on a daily basis. When you're willing to do that, and organize people around you to do the same, then you show the government you have nothing to lose. But, if you feel like these things are more important than the larger fight at hand (for most of us, they are), then don't we won't get what we want. We just won't. History has proven that we, the people, need to take back the power. It has never been given to us.

Until then. Our complaints don't mean much,
