Will I Become Zoo-Exclusive?

Dear Betty and Carlin,

Thank you so much for your site, and for all that you do. Although I've not been able to find anything here on your website or on YouTube I suspect you must have dealt with this issue before. I have a wonderful, very sweet, elegant Golden Retriever, Duke. I used to have another Golden Retriever by the same name when I was about 8. One night my original Duke surprised me with his oral attentions when I was getting out of the bathtub. It was delicious... and one thing led to another. Although I never had actual intercourse with Duke as a young girl I explored all sorts of exciting intimacy with Him and eventually even shared him with my best friend. Yes, Zoophilia is illegal in 30 states here in the USA and in Canada. The person is charged with animal cruelty but it's only a misdemeanor or (sexual misconduct) which means a slap on the wrist and a fine to pay. How they figure this is cruelty I don't really know. It's those Puritans again making sure no one is having any sexual fun.

A few years back, I saw a documentary on Zoophilia. I believe it was an HBO doc titled "Zoophile." One woman loved her Golden Retriever and it was a very tender love story indeed. Where do we draw the line? Babies and young children get sexual pleasure form touching themselves but does that mean it is okay for adults to give them sexual pleasure?

It's all well and good that you get sexual pleasure from your dog but what about forming loving and intellectual relationships with men and women? Your dog does things these for you because it sees you as his master/mistress. Don't anthropomorphize him. Your "thrill" and "intimacy" is only in your mind, whereas for the dog, he just does it because he senses you like it. Dogs always want to please their owners, they have the "pack mentality". For him sex is purely an instinct, that is why they will ride inanimate objects.

I'm pretty open-minded but I think I find bestiality a bit uncomfortable. Animals can't talk or form an equal standing in a sexual relationship. I think it is not good for someone to prefer sex with animals rather than other humans. We humans are very adept at seeing things the way we want to see them.

There is a world of difference between a little terrier humping your leg and you getting it to perform cunnilingus.

I don't think it's fair to say that people need to "grow up and become more civilized and accepting" There is a reason people find the thought of sex with animals abnormal or wrong. It doesn't mean that they are narrow minded. Is everything acceptable now? Sex with children, sex with animals? Am I narrow-minded just because I think that these activities are not normal?

Yes, I'd say a person is narrow minded when they pass moral judgment on another persons sexual preference. How about live and let live? And how do you make the leap from sex with animals to having sex with children? That reminds me of the sixties when moralistic people first heard about couples having sex in groups. They immediately assumed the next thing they'll be doing is having sex in the streets. If only!!! I'd say everything is acceptable now between consenting people as well as animals. Dog owners are not tying their pets up and abusing them sexually! Please!

It's quite an easy leap from to child: namely that neither are capable of consent. Whatever about killing animals for food, there is absolutely no justification for using a creature incapable of consent for your own sexual ends.

At the end of the day, I am open-minded in that I appreciate sex as an amazing thing, and consenting adults of both genders should never be subject to the judgment and moral codes of others when practising their sexual desires without causing harm. But with OTHER ADULTS. Not with members of a different species.

Please don't try to paint this as some form of moralism or prudishness. I cannot believe that you are basically saying that it it is okay to sexually abuse members of a different species. It is sexual abuse, without a doubt. You don't have to bother telling me how backward and narrow-minded I am, I won't be back again. I can see that you believe it is okay to have sex with animals and you won't listen to those who don't agree.

I don't understand how you can think it's okay to cause pain and suffering in the name of food and condem giving pleaser and happiness to an animal. It is obvious to me that all the anti-zoo comments come from people that have never bonded emotionally with a pet. To those people pets are just property to be used and then thrown out when they don't suite them. These are the same people that don't cry when their dog or horse dies of old age.

I have horses and dogs and even though I'm not sexually interested in my dogs I do know that they experience pleasure onw their own. For a person to think that an animal only wants to do what makes its master happy is insane and shows just how big their ego is. We have to make them happy too. If you treat them like sub-creatures not worthy of knowing pleasure and happiness then they will turn on you and bite you and become that vicious dog that cruel people create.

Animals are not children. They are not your children. Only children are children and if you can't tell the difference then you should not have either. I have children and I have sex with horses. My horses are my lovers and my children are my children. There is no way to forget that or cross those lines unless you are insane.

Why can't people figure this simple point out? Sex is for adults that are sexual be that human or horse or dog. Sex feels good which is why we all do it. Do you seriously think animals would have sex if it was painful? We are animals too you know. Don't put yourself on such a high place just because you have thumbs and can use tools. I'm sure there are animals out there that see us as stupid creatures too.

I wonder if some of these who have responded have really read my original post... because my Duke was the initiator in the beginning. At 8 I had no idea that he would have an interest in me. I was just a little girl... but I guess it just goes to show that everyone (even four-legged ones) like the yummy taste of pussy ~giggle~ I know I certainly do... and my girlfriend, too.
