The 3D Vulva has been sent to me from several different sources. I'm finally going to post it with my suggestions on how I think it could be made more informative.

As an artist and clinical sexologist, I've often dreamed of creating a 3D vulva instead of just drawing one in two dimensions. This particular 3D vulva example comes close, but it leaves much to be desired. However, I'm going to post it along with what I'd like to see changed. If I am ever able to reach the person who created this, I'd like to work with them. We could do it again with my additions and deletions. Instead of using medical terms, I would dump them in favor of regular terms. Then I'd add my many years as a clinical sexologist working with women and combine that with my trained artist's eye to make the following changes:

• Labium Majus and Minus would become inner and outer lips.
• The Hyman rarely shows except as small skin tags so I would delete the reference.
• Vestibular Fosse and Greater Vestibular Gland are rarely visible so they would be eliminated.
• Frenulum of labia and posterior labial commissure are medical terms that are unnecessary.
• The Vulva at rest is not a good example: Of the thousands of vulvas I've viewed, most have inner lips that extend beyond the outer lips. This would help to eliminate the unnecessary cosmetic surgery to reduce the size of inner lips for young women wanting to conform to the Adult Industries preference for pubescence-like vulvas called "The Clamshell."
• Other terms I would eliminate are Anterior Labial Commissure.
• The Prepuce of Clitoris is the clitoral hood.
• Clitoris needs to be changed to Clitoral Glans as it is only the tip.
• The Internal Clitoris is quite extensive and is the purpose of the 3D diagram.
• The paraurethral ducts are invisible and therefore confusing. A novice wanting to learn about her vulva will think she was lacking something.
• The Greater Vestibular Gland Orifice is also rarely visible and therefore unnecessary.
• The Vaginal Orifice shown with a ragged opening is rarely presented. I suspect many view the vaginal opening as a hole, but it's a series of intricate folds that vary from woman to woman.
