Betty Dodson with Carlin Ross
Better Orgasms. Better World.
Here's an email from my dear friend Myrtis Mixon who lives in San Francisco. Back in the early seventies we got kicked off the local Aspen TV station for showing a group of women shaving their heads. That was back in our radical feminist days when we were saying "Fuck beauty, fashion and hair-do's." It totally freaked out the powers that be and we loved it all the more.
Dear Betty,
The Emily's list luncheon was worth the money... great speeches by fantastic women: Gwen Moore of Wisconsin, Bev Perdue and Kay Hagan of North Carolina, Nancy Pelosi from our district, Shaheen from N.H. and a charming Ellen Moran, White house communication director to be... and they showed a mock West Wing intro ..from YouTube i think, and it was climaxed by Hillary's speech... She is really pretty... i didn't get pictures because I'd forgotten to bring a camera, and hadn't learned yet, but Maria taught me later how to take pics with my phone. ... I could have gone up and taken Hillary.'s picture. The 9 women sitting at my table were all well-traveled and most had worked overseas... 2500 people... almost all women; at one point, a man helped us to comandeer the Men's room since the line was so long.
Maria and i will go to a movie later, and perhaps i will sleep at her place, so that i won't have such a hard time connecting with her tomorrow...don't know what we will do... i did return in a packed metro, but that was OK. I'm eating a banana... had a leg cramp during the night.... so much walking. I went shopping on Saturday with Bill and bought 3 wines for the house, since he is sogenerous with me. He left this morning... so i have both apartments. Checking to see if there is anyway i can get out of here on Wednesday instead of staying over., which would definitely be anti-climactic, unless i would go at dawn to stand in line to go through the white house on Wed.
Mike Brady did that in 93 after Clinton moved in." the concert was great yesterday...inspiring to be there... felt like a million people.. stretching from the lincoln memorial where the action was... past the washington obelisk (where I was and actually found Maria and Pete with the blessed use of cell phones and orienteering tools)... among almost a million people, quite a feat. and half way to the capitol... of course the music was good and loud... i admit it was the second time in the day that the tears come down...I am so 'emo' as the teenagers say in Russia!
